What We Do

Children of Peace School is the home of Holy Trinity School for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. It is the only Catholic School in the City of Chicago and State of Illinois that supports a program for deaf and hard-of-hearing children children under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

The school operates on the philosophy that whenever possible the deaf and hard-of-hearing should be in a classroom with their hearing peers.

We also include the students as part of a tradition of Catholic Education that develops skills necessary to succeed in the hearing world and make the Word of God alive in their lives. The mission remains the same today as it did in 1957 - to bring our deaf and hard-of-hearing students the Gospel of Jesus Christ and prepare them to live in a hearing world — a world not always comfortable with the idea of "deafness".

The work of the Cardinal Stritch Foundation supports this continuing work.
